We were 1 game away from a clean sweep last week, but still had the 2 singles with QPR and Luton landing for us. I also did a 5 fold and a super yankee with the 5 teams i picked last week and was 1 goal away from winning a 4-figure sum. However, all in all it was a great weekend, seeing our profits for the season rise to over £500, and more importantly maintaining the momentum with currently have. This week isn't the easiest set of fixtures to choose from, largely hindered by the FA cup meaning we haven't got the League 1 and League 2 games this weekend, however, I've picked out a few games that i like the look of.
In the Premier League this weekend there are 3 games that i fancy home wins, namely Man City, Spurs and Liverpool. However, they are all around 8/15 and each have a reason to put me off backing them or adding them into an accy. Man City have hit top form in the last few weeks, however they have the biggest game of the season in mid-week with a tough away fixture in Rome. If they have half an eye on this Everton are capable of nicking something from this. Spurs are very inconsistent and flatter to deceive on occasions. Again i expect them to beat Palace today, but Warnock likes the games where his teams are up against it, and they may think they can nick a point. Liverpool have also turned the corner with a couple of wins on the bounce. They looked pretty good at Leicester in the week, and i think their confidence is coming back, however, they still aren't that good a team and Sunderland may look to spring a surprise at Anfield. Its for these reasons that i am leaving the PL alone this weekend.
The Championship forms the basis of todays bets. I have chosen my bet of the day from this league and also 2 others to supplement my 5-fold acca and super yankee. First up is the bet of the day. Derby entertain Brighton today and they are one of the form teams in the country. Prior to last weeks loss at Leeds (that i picked as a banana skin!) they have won 10 and drawn 2 of 12 games. At home they average 2.2 goals per game, and concede just 0.89. They are top of the league, and Steve Mclarens men will be pushing hard for the 3 points again today. Brighton on the other hand now sit in the bottom 3, having not recorded a victory on the road for 7 games. Derby are 3/4 with William Hill, which isn't amazing odds but nice enough to lump on. The second game i like the look of is Blackburn. Blackburn have got into a lovely run of form, being unbeaten in 9 and winning their last 3 home games on the bounce. They play Sheffield Wednesday today and despite Wednesday ability to seemingly draw every game (drawn last 4 away and 7 of last 10) i fancy Blackburn with a fit again Jordan Rhodes to have too much for them. They are even money and this is good odds in my opinion. The last of the 3 championship games that ive picked out is that at the City Ground. Forest have turned a corner after their recent poor run, and in contrast Charlton are in free fall. i haven't liked the look of Charlton all season to be honest and think they are now being found out. They have only won 1 in the last 6, and Forest will be too strong for them today. Both Blackburn and Forest form legs 2 and 3 of today's 5 fold and super yankee.
Derby to beat Brighton £75 @ 3/4 with William Hill
Its round 2 of the FA cup this weekend. A lot of people think that this means there will be lots of surprises and upsets, and as in any game week, cup or otherwise there will be surprises. However, these clubs will always look for the financial benefits of qualification to the third round and the possibility of a big draw to a Premier League club. Its on this basis that i have today's picks. I have chosen 2 teams. Firstly is my second single and this sees a top league 1 side at home to a league 2 side. Preston entertain Shrewsbury in this. Shrewsbury are no mugs, however Preston have the ability to beat any team in their division on their day, so a team in the league below should result in a comfortable home win. Preston are 11-13, which i think is great odds. The final bet of the day comes with MK Dons. The Dons have the best home form in League 1. They face another league 1 side in Chesterfield, who score a lot of goals, but they also concede a lot. MK Dons came in last week for me (as did Preston) in a 5-0 rout, and i fancy another win today. MK dons have only lost 1 in their last 10 games and have won 5 and drawn 1 of their last 6 at home. Chesterfield are without a win in 7 away from home, bar a win at braintree in the last round! MK are 17-20 and again this represents good odds for me and this completes today's 5 games!
Preston to beat Shrewsbury £50 11-13 With William Hill
Derby, Blackburn, Forest, Preston and MK Dons 1x £10 5 fold 20.8 William Hill and 26 £2 bets for super Yankee (£52 stake).
