It's 2 weeks since my last post due to 2 reasons. 1, last week was an international break and i don't tend to get involved during the break, and secondly due to a poor run of form for myself. When things aren't going so well i like to take a step back and refocus. Ironically the bet i would have had would have been Bristol City to win. They scored a 90th minute winner, which is in stark contrast to the 2 late equalisers conceded by Watford and Swansea the previous week that cost me a nice bit of profit.
This week both myself and top flight football is back! There are some usually tight games in the PL today, which is becoming increasingly difficult to predict in my opinion. What are the reasons for this? Well, Everton vs Aston Villa is case in point. Last season you would be lucky to get 1-3 odds on this fixture in terms of a Toffees win, but looking at the game today, Villa are above Everton in the league. Everton have struggled at home and Villa have looked solid at the back, and dangerous on the counter attack. Everton are still only 8-13 to win the game, which is weak odds. Southampton are 3-5 to beat Sunderland which is again very skinny, in what will be a tight affair, with maybe 1 goal winning it. The only value is Newcastle who are 6-5 to beat Leicester at St James', but they haven't won all season! Arsenal 1-2 to beat Hull and Manchester City 1-2 to beat Spurs, and Chelsea 7-15 to win at Palace offers a 3.24 treble with betbright. I'm tempted by this, but i'm not amazingly confident of any of these sides winning, let alone all of them, so its for this reason i wont be touching the PL today.
In the Championship there are again a number of tight games, but i've picked out a couple of games where i fancy a home win. Huddersfield is the first. They are at home to bottom of the table Blackpool. Huddersfield are in good form, winning 2 and drawing 1 of their last 3 games, including a 3-1 win at Wolves. They are 8-11 to win today and form the first part of todays double. Wigan are my second tip in the championship. they are 20-19 to defeat Brentford at home today. Wigan still have a number of PL players and entertain newly promoted Brentford who have struggled away from home this season losing there last 2 games conceding 6 goals and scoring none. However, Wigan haven't made a good start either, and although i expect them to win today, i wont be getting my wallet out! Forest away at Cardiff and Norwich away at Fulham should both be good games, but draws look favorite in these 2 so leave well alone as they could go either way.
League 1 again is the place where the best value is available and where there are a number of stand out home wins on the table. First is my bet of the day, Notts County. I've been impressed with the loan signings made by County and they are proving difficult to beat at the moment. As i tipped 2 weeks a go, they defeated a continually weakening Gillingham side. County are undefeated in 6, and Crawley have only won 1 in their last 5, and haven't won away from home all season. County are 6-5 with Bet 365 and i'm confident they will win again today. The second part of my double comes with Preston. They are 8-11 to beat Port Vale, and im confident they will do so. They have scored for fun all season and have 5 top players coming back from injury to further add to their quality. Vale haven't won since the second game of the season away from home, and Preston's home form is top notch. I fancy a comfortable win here.
In League 2 i don't often tip much as the form isn't always accurate and my knowledge isn't that great. The 2 teams i do follow are both at home today however, and i would expect both Burton and Southend to win today. Both teams will be pushing for automatic at the end of the season. Burton are at home to Morecambe (9-10 with Hills), and Southend at home to Exeter (3-4 with Bet 365). Both should win so may be worth a little nibble if you are feeling lucky!
